Maximising Community Resilience through Mutual Aid
Friday, September 29, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 6:30 pm
The concept of Mutual Aid has been around for a long time and has its roots in basic survival. It involves the idea of sharing, exchanging and building resources between individuals and within and across communities to establish strong relationships, and underpin well-being. Camden is a very vibrant borough and it makes sense for us all to get a deeper understanding of current and future mutual aid initiatives and innovative partnerships that can act as a catalyst to bridge social capital, build community resilience and reduce social isolation.
This event is a collaborative effort involving residents, voluntary and community organisations, public sector groups, academia and businesses. It is an opportunity for this diverse group of people to share examples of what is already happening, what is missing and what we can do to strengthen and develop mutual aid in Camden.
The conference will:
- Explore the wide range and richness of mutual aid activity in the Borough, people’s stories and the impact on individual and community resilience
- Profile ‘practical tools’ that can help mobilise individual assets and networks in the solving of shared community issues
- Explore how the learning and experience at the conference can help shape a future vision for the future.
