In partnership with specialist health trainer Lawrence Moses and Skills Plus Training, VAC invite organisations and groups to the following training session.
Suitable for those delivering services to vulnerable adults, carers, health workers, volunteers, and those with friends or family wanting to learn more.
The course will cover three key areas in a full day’s training, which will include:
Section 1: Understanding Dementia.

- Psychological needs
- The medical and social models for dementia
- Person-centred approach to dementia
- Dementia support
Section 2: Safeguarding Adults.
- Safeguarding legislation and guidance
- Principles of Safeguarding
- Types of abuse and Indicators
- Risk Factors of abuse
- Immediate safety and risk assessment
- Barriers to reporting abuse
- Enablers of reporting
- Reporting and recording abuse
Section 3: Mental Capacity.
- When is a capacity assessment necessary?
- The two steps of the capacity assessment
- Planning ahead using the MCA
- Consent
- Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
