We all have a role to play in ensuring children live their lives free from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
This introductory course is designed for new starters and volunteers who work both directly and indirectly with organisations or groups delivering services to children, young people and their families in Camden. This session is free for all those who live or work in Camden and have had little or no safeguarding training before.
Who Should Take This Course?
Suitable for anyone working with children, young people or their families; including volunteers, play workers, coaches, youth mentors and new starters who have never had safeguarding training before.
Equivalent of a Level 1 safeguarding qualification – certification on completion.
The workshop will cover the following essential aspects of safeguarding:
- An introduction to the UK legislation, guidance, policies and procedures.
- An understanding of the different types of child abuse and the ways in which children can be harmed.
- The importance of partnership work and passing on information.
- Awareness of current issues / safeguarding during Covid and the pandemic.
- Your role and responsibilities for safeguarding.
- Safeguarding in practice / Early Help & Support.
Please note: All attendees will be asked to complete a short assessment after training.
