In Camden and right across the country, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted health differences that excessively affect people from Black, Asian and other ethnic backgrounds and those with disabilities.
In partnership with the NHS, Public Health and VCS collaborators Camden Disability Action and Camden Healthwatch; the Health Inequalities Network aims to develop and deliver initiatives that connect these disproportionality effected groups to health providers and policy makers, enabling collaboration and raising awareness of health inequalities, amplified by Covid-19.
The project aims to:
- Provide BAME groups and other marginalised communities with a platform to interface with health and care services, enabling both to raise issues as they arise and seek solutions.
- Support BAME-focused organisations to demonstrate their impact and help them to progress sustainable community health initiatives.
- Co-produce training and support with peer groups to problem solve and instigate action.
- Use our social prescribing and other health data to inform local community action and work with NHS and other providers to generate evidence for action.
- Connect people, organisations and public agencies so that better decisions can be made about improving community health / a shared understanding so that and better decisions came be made about community health.
- Train, support and work with volunteers who will enable resident/group participation and support communities to access health services.
