What If…?
What If…?is a toolkit to support Camden’s Voluntary and Community Sector to better prepare, respond and recover from emergencies. The boroughs response to the pandemic highlighted the importance and value of the VCSE sector in an emergency. With our expertise, huge volunteering workforce and extensive reach into communities it is imperative that we remain ready and able to be called upon when needed in response to an emergency.
Our Emergency Response Review of Learning survey highlighted the need for more information about how the sector can respond in an emergency. We hope this toolkit reflects some of the learning from our communities and provides a comprehensive but easy to follow guide.
The information in this guide has been put together by Voluntary Action Camden with the support of local community groups, the Borough Resilience team at Camden Council, the Mayor of London, London Plus, Communities Prepared, British Red Cross, and Voluntary and Community Sector Emergencies Partnership.
This is a live resource which we will continue to update. If you would like to contribute to this work, please get in touch via info@vac.org.uk
How to use this guide
Every organisation will operate differently, but it is important to know in advance what is your organisation’s plan to support the community in the case of an emergency. We suggest trying to use this information to come up with an action plan that works for you and can be used if an emergency occurs. It is a good idea to involve staff and volunteers and make sure they are aware of this plan. If you need support to develop your plan, contact us via info@vac.org.uk
