Introduction to Social Prescribing: Non-clinical, community-based health and well-being.

October 22 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Online Zoom Workshop: Wednesday 22nd October: 10.30am – 11.30am.

Did you know that health and well-being is influenced by factors beyond medical conditions?

These can include social isolation, financial difficulties, and lack of access to community and support networks.

In this Introduction to social prescribing session, VAC’s Community Links team discuss how residents and service users needing support with loneliness, long-term health conditions, or mental health challenges can access free, tailored support services in the community.

We discuss how this approach complements traditional healthcare, by addressing the root causes of health issues, while promoting wellbeing.

As well as how to connect individuals in your community with local organisations, groups, activities and volunteering opportunities that benefit all.

The session will cover how social prescribing can:

  • Improve mental and physical health.
  • Increase social connectedness and reduced isolation.
  • Enhanced sense of well-being and quality of life, health and well-being.
  • Offer volunteering opportunities and signpost to services.

Non-attendance:

  • VAC kindly ask that if you book a place and are unable to attend on the day, please arrange for a volunteer or another member of your organisation to attend in your place.
  • Alternatively, please email Ricky Singh Tokhi at: rsingh@vac.org.uk in advance and your place can be offered to another learner on our wating list.
  • Failure to notify VAC of non-attendance in advance, will result in your organisation / groups restriction to attend future training sessions.
