Feature 

Communities Together- Cohesion Fund

Up to £72K will be available to the voluntary and community sector to deliver activities that promote community cohesion. The fund will be open from 10th June to 1st July for small grant applications of £500-£1,500 with a very quick and simple application process.
Decisions will be made by a grant panel of Camden residents. Camden Giving is currently recruiting Camden Residents who will receive training in grant-making and make decisions on how funding is awarded. Find out more here. Deadline 14 May.  Full details about the fund will be available soon.

Camden Giving Week

13-19 May Camden Giving Week is back for its second year. A week of businesses coming together to support the local community.
Camden Giving connects people who live, work and play in Camden to end local inequality and supports local people to lead their own projects, anything from boxing clubs to resident newspapers and food banks to homeless shelters. Find out more at Camden Giving.

Social Action – Get Involved

Get involved with community activitiy.  We have a page of ideas and to help you get started.  Coming up in June – the Big Lunch and the Great Get Together. Health and Social Care Integration News

Sharing learning about how health and social care integration and voluntary sector engagement works best.
~ NCVO have blogged on the learning so far.
~ NHS England has produced an 18-minute podcast exploring the value of a joined-up way of working between systems and the voluntary sector.
~ Transforming Healthcare Together – new body of resources and events for anyone engaged in healthcare transformation.

Training Opportunity for Trustees – Governance in the Voluntary and Community Sector

13 June – 18 July.  6 Thursday evenings 17:30-20:30 in Camden
A short evening course for trustees/management committee members or anybody who is interested in developing the knowledge and skills required to be a member of a governing body in the voluntary or community sector. Ideal for new trustees as an induction, for experienced trustees who want a refresher and for those just starting out as trustees. The course is a partnership between Voluntary Action Camden and Mary Ward Centre.

Human Jam

The story of HS2’s exhumation of Euston’s dead.  It’s a unique, docu-theatre using members of the community. Details at Camden People’s Theatre website.

Future Changemakers

The Future Changemakers programme will work with 16-25 year old living in Camden to make decisions on which youth services we fund, putting power into the hands of those who understand the challenges best.
The Future Changemakers welcome proposals of up to £10,000 that aim to improve the safety of Camden’s young people aged 16-25
Applications will be made directly to Camden Giving but all of the decisions are made by the Future Changemakers.
Have a chat with one of the team before starting your application, you can do this by coming along to one of the events or by booking an appointment, email admin@camdengiving.org.uk  We have a range of flexible support available to applicants who need it, including ESOL support, applications via video or interview, just get in touch.

Greener City Fund Community Tree Planting Grants.

Get involved in planting trees and helping to improve children’s access to nature. We are keen to support tree planting in areas where there is currently little tree cover or where trees can help address issues like air pollution. Applications are open until 24th June 2019. £5,000 – £50,000.

Mayor of London – Summer Sports Activities Fund

Grants are available for formal or informal groups and organisations based in Greater London to support projects that use sport over the school summer holidays to engage young people who are at risk of getting involved in crime.
Maximum value: £10,000. Deadline 20 May. Details here.

The HS2 Camden Fund

The Camden Fund aims to strengthen the sense of place and alleviate the disruption of the development of HS2 on local people. Aims:
1. A Happier and Healthier Camden
2. A Better Connected Camden
3. A Stronger Voluntary and Community Sector

Arts workshops for young people and older community members (May to September)

Bi Lingual Nursery Worker Needed

Menchú Nursery, part of Latin American House (Casa Latinoamericana), is looking for a bilingual (English-Spanish) practitioner to join our small nursery based in Kilburn, North West London.
40 hours per week full time – or two part-time posts

Volunteer with The Felix Project and help end food waste and food poverty in Camden

 The Felix Project collects surplus food from various suppliers and delivers this food free of charge to charities who support vulnerable people in the community. We rely on volunteers to make this operation happen. You could directly reduce food waste and food poverty in Camden by volunteering in the evenings with The Felix Project as either a driver or co-driver.

The Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS) is a human rights, feminist organisation led by and for Latin American migrant women in the UK. Our work is dedicated to support the immediate and long-term needs of Latin American migrant women exposed to violations of their fundamental human rights  Full details here.

Ageing Better Camden seeks Men’s Outreach Worker

Ageing Better Camden is looking for a male Outreach Worker to contribute to a new Outreach project with the ABC Outreach Service, to trial innovative approaches to reaching, initiating contact and engaging with older men across Camden.  A key focus of the role will be to build knowledge of and test and learn approaches to creating and bringing isolated older men together through informal male social hubs such as pubs, cafes, and gyms.

Are you a Qualified Teacher with Time to Volunteer?

The English Network is a Camden run project which links qualified volunteer EFL teachers with Camden residents who need to improve their English language skills.
Lessons are taught one-to-one within libraries and other Council buildings in Camden for an hour a week.
We ask for teachers to commit to one hour a week of teaching for six months and we will supply references for volunteers who teach with us.
This post requires a TEFL qualification, preferably a CELTA or Trinity TESOL certificate, but candidates with a TEFL certificate will be considered if they have previous teaching experience.

Volunteer with VAC and develop experience and skills in public health

VAC provide training, and work opportunities for Camden volunteers who can commit 2 hours per week.
We offer free Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) training to volunteer Health Advocates for Community Links, part of a new Care Navigation and Social Prescribing service in Camden. Community Links Health Advocates signpost residents to community based activities and help with formal referrals where community based activities are needed alongside clinical care.

VAC is recruiting volunteers to help us in our new building in Chalk Farm

VAC has recently moved to a new home at Charlie Ratchford Centre, Belmont Street, NW1. We are sharing the building with Camden Carers and Camden Disability Action.  It is a very busy building with lots of visitors and events.
We are recruiting volunteer receptionists to be the first point of contact for visitors. I You will be an important member of the VAC team of volunteers and staff and will have access to training and ongoing support.

VAC now has 3 new rooms to hire out for Events/Training, etc. at our new base in the Charlie Ratchford Centre in Chalk Farm.
There is a large room for up to 60 people, ideal for large events.
The training room can hold up to 20 people comfortably for training/workshops
The Lounge is a open area for anything that is not confidential and can hold up to 20 people. Smartboard, level access throughout, reasonable prices.
