VCS Access to Camden Council’s Learning & Development

Camden have been reviewing the offer of learning and development (L&D) support to the VCS and are now in a position to extend the offer to more organisations working with Camden citizens.
L&D are working in partnership with the VCS to ensure the offer meets the needs of the sector and will be working to finalise arrangements over the coming months.
However, interim arrangements have been put in place to ensure access to key training such as level 1 Safeguarding, health and safety training and other key e-learning courses.  Please read the statement from Camden here.

Enabling Integrated Care Workforce Shadowing

The Enabling Integrated Care Workforce Shadowing Project is a new initiative that Camden Community Education Provider Network (CEPN) is supporting. The project will enable staff from various organisations to shadow each other and learn more about available services.
We are inviting members of the workforce to express their interest to take part in the project using this form.

Camden Resilient Families Practice Model Celebration

The Resilient Families Framework is the name given to Camden early help’s way of working – the ‘practice model’.

Mental Health Matters event

How do LGBT+ people experience local services and what is the effect on their mental health and wellbeing?  Speakers:
Monty Moncrieff MBE, Chief Executive of London Friend, a charity promoting the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people.
Ben Hoff Ph.D, Clinical Lead for Mental Health at sexual health charity Spectra, where he heads up counselling and mindfulness provision.

Opportunity to join Governing Body of the future North Central London CCG

Closing Wednesday 29 January 2020
The five Clinical Commissioning Groups in North Central London (NCL CCGs) – Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington – are merging to form one CCG from April 2020.
A new Governing Body will be in place to lead the new CCG – consisting of elected and appointed Board Members.  Three Lay Members will be recruited.  More information on the NHS Job Website.

Consultation on Deaf & Hard of Hearing Interpreting

Thursday 30th January, 5pm to 7pm at Camden Disability Action, Greenwood Place, 37 Greenwood Place, London, NW5 1LB
Camden Disability Action will be hosting a meeting to discuss possible changes in interpreting provision in general practices for deaf and hard of hearing patients. As part of this, there is a demonstration of the video remote interpreting (VRI) tool being considered.

Central London CCG on the NHS Soho Walk-In Centre

The current contract for the Soho Walk-in Centre will come to an end on 31 March 2020, and NHS Central London CCG want to begin looking at how the current services might be provided from 1 April 2020 onwards.

Camden Community Festival Fund

The fund is now open for applications. All community festivals and events that receive a grant will also receive a waiver of all non-statuary fees and charges which include road closures, trading licenses and parking suspensions. The process for grant applications will be managed directly by Camden Events Service.
Deadline for grant applications is 29 February. All funding decisions will be announced by 31 March.
There will be a workshop from 5.30pm on 20th January at Camden Council, 5 Pancras Square, N1. To confirm your attendance please email the events team.

Summer Give 2020 opens on Monday 20th January

The Summer Give campaign raises funds for projects taking place during any school holidays between Summer 2020 – May half term 2021 (inclusive). Applications open 20th January – 21st February 2020.
You must be registered charity, have a year of accounts and £25k income.

Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Grassroots Fund.

The £3m fund will focus on supporting existing VAWG-specialist grassroots organisations operating deep in London’s communities.
The Fund will formally launch in early March, but LCF will be holding a series of engagement events in January and February. Express your interest in attending these engagement events here.

The Mayor of London’s Shared Endeavour fund

This fund will support civil society organisations in London who are standing up against hate, intolerance and extremism.
Core objectives of the fund will be to support groups that
– are countering extremist narrative and offering positive alternatives
– are encouraging others to stand up to hate, intolerance and extremism

The Camden Fund aims to strengthen the sense of place and alleviate the disruption of the development of HS2 on local people. Aims:

New IT & Digital Capacity Building Programme

VAC is pleased to announce the launch of our new IT and digital capacity building for the sector, delivered in Partnership with CITA and WCIT. Taking on your priorities from our recent survey, we will be delivering a series of FREE 2 hour workshops covering a whole range of topics from getting started with new IT systems, social media use and strategy, website and CRM development through to data protection, compliance and digital strategy. The first sessions will run on the 21st and 29th January and look at website planning and design, and getting started with new IT Systems.  Please visit our website for more information, download the programme and book your place.

Accessible Ceilidh

Fully accessible Daytime Ceilidh for people with mobility issues and Parkinson’s at Cecil Sharp House.

Camden Volunteer Managers’ Cafe

Volunteer Centre are launching our brand-new Volunteer Managers’ Cafe this January to give you another way to get free, tailored support with managing local volunteers.
The cafe will travel around the borough and we kick off with a visit to the coffee shop at The Roundhouse, Chalk Farm Road, NW1 8EH this Thursday 16th January from 10am – noon.  Drop in – no need to book.

Food Co-op Planning Meeting

Arts 4 Dementia opportunity for people living with dementia and their companions.

The workshop programme, taking place at the Science Museum, is starting on 21 January and running for four weeks.  Participants will benefit from a private view of this breath-taking presentation of the history of medical science.

Community Connectors/Volunteers Recruiting Now

Elfrida Rathbone Camden is looking for volunteers (18+) to support parents and carers living in Camden. No qualifications necessary, just bags of enthusiasm and encouragement, plus a desire to help others. Out of pocket expenses paid.
We offer practical support at our drop-in and 1:1 sessions and organise occasional low-cost/free activities for parents and their children.

Kentish Town City Farm seeks Treasurer

Kentish Town City Farm is a community charity that helps city people connect with animals, nature and the environment. The farm is a four-acre site, alongside two railway lines in the Borough of Camden. With sheep, goats, chickens, geese, three horses, two donkeys, twopigs and a cow.
The Treasurer’s role is key to its professional oversight through the provision of advice on all aspects of financial management, reporting, controls etc.

Volunteer with VAC and develop experience and skills in public health

VAC provide training, and work opportunities for Camden volunteers who can commit 2 hours per week.
We offer free Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) training to volunteer as a Community Links volunteer, part of a new Care Navigation and Social Prescribing service in Camden. Community Links volunteers signpost residents to community based activities and help with formal referrals where community based activities are needed alongside clinical care.

Need a Meeting Room near Chalk Farm?

VAC has 3 new rooms to hire out for Events/Training, etc. at  the Charlie Ratchford Centre in Chalk Farm.
There is a large room for up to 60 people, ideal for large events.
The training room can hold up to 20 people comfortably for training/workshops
The Lounge is a open area for anything that is not confidential and can hold up to 20 people. Smartboard, level access throughout, reasonable prices.

Proposed changes to planned orthopaedic surgery

The consultation planning group are keen to try to work with potential groups they might engage with as part of the consultation. NCL are looking to link up with any meetings/events you might have from the end of January 2020 through to early April where the team could come and speak with service users or their families about the proposals. Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service User Survey

A survey for residents who are deaf or hard of hearing and registered with a general practice in Camden.
In part one CCG are asking deaf patients to give feedback on how they find the current provision of British Sign Language (BSL) interpreting services in Camden general practices.  Currently face to face interpreting services only.
In part two Camden Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is considering introducing Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) that can be used for routine appointments, dealing with admin and clinical staff in GP practices. VRI is when all participants are in the same location and the interpreter joins remotely.
