An evening with Antony Gormley, 7pm 7 November 2018

Antony Gormley, one of Britain’s great living artists, will be joined by anthropologist Hugh Brody and psychoanalyst Margot Waddell for this evening of discussion and film at Belsize Square Synagogue. Included will be a special screening of “Inside Australia”, Hugh Brody’s 52-minute documentary about Antony Gormley’s stunning 51-sculptue installation on Lake Ballard in Western Australia. All proceeds will fund Camden Psychotherapy Unit’s provision of low cost psychotherapy for Londoners in need. Monthly Health Walks with West Euston Partnership

West Euston Partnership will be holding a monthly health walk on Wednesday, 17 October. Participants will be meeting at 9:45am in the One Stop Shop, located at 29-31 Hampstead Road, then continuing on to Regent’s Park. Health walks are a great way to fit in a bit of light exercise while also admiring the beautiful autumn colours and sharing some lovely conversation. London Early Years Campaign.

The Mayor is offering a total of £150,000 to improve awareness of free early education for 2-year-olds and increase take up of places by eligible families.
City Hall will award a maximum of 30 grants of between £5,000 and £15,000 each to local projects. The proposals must target areas of low take up and evidence how they will effectively engage families and communities who are currently missing out on this vital offer.
Interested bidders should have excellent links with local communities and understanding of barriers to take up of early education specific to those communities. We expect the applicants to have strong partnerships with their respective local authorities in order to understand their local childcare market, and with their local early years providers in order to provide families with access to a childcare place.
Delivery is expected to take place between January 2019 and September 2019. Full details here.

Waitrose Community Matters

Launched in 2008, Waitrose Community Matters initiative donated over £14 million to local charities chosen by the public. Using tokens provided at the till, customers decide how much of a £1,000 monthly total (£500 in convenience shops) is given to the three charities or community groups, nominated by customers and selected by Partners.
Online, Waitrose.com also shares a donation of £25,000 between 3 national causes. After checkout, you will be asked to vote for one of the national causes we are supporting. Each cause will receive a share according to the number of votes – just as we do in our branches. Apply here.

The Feminist Review Trust

The Feminist Review Trust gives grants to projects in the UK and internationally that support women

The HS2 Camden Fund

The Camden Fund aims to strengthen the sense of place and alleviate the disruption of the development of HS2 Ltd. on local people by achieving one or more of the following aims:
1. A Happier and Healthier Camden
2. A Better Connected Camden
3. A Stronger Voluntary and Community Sector

October Volunteering Fair

Bookings are now open for the Volunteer Centre Camden  Supersized Volunteering Fair on Wednesday 31st October, 12-2pm.
This fair is co-hosted with Volunteer Centre Islington and takes place in King’s Cross at Voluntary Action Islington on Pentonville Road.
This is open to all voluntary organisations that have volunteering in Camden, Islington and their borders.

Little Village Opportunities

Little Village collects great quality donations of clothes, toys and kit for babies and children up to the age of 5 and then gifts these donations onto local families in need in the area.

Centre for Independent Living Receptionist

The Centre for Independent Living is a new service, run and controlled by Deaf and disabled people. Its purpose is to improve the life chances of Deaf and disabled people in Camden. It is based in a new building; a space where disabled and non-disabled people can come together and take part in shared activities, ranging from art and exercise to creative and entrepreneurial enterprises.
The new site for CDA and the CIL will be open from 9am until 10pm. CDA is therefore looking for two or more receptionists to cover the reception function on a job-share basis. For the right candidates, flexibility about hours (for example school hours, early mornings and/or evening work) will be available.

Kingsgate Community Association seeks Director

As the Cook at Henderson Court Day Centre, you will be responsible for the provision of mid-day meals, snacks and refreshments to Centre members, staff and visitors. VAC provide training, and work opportunities for committed volunteers
• Can you commit at least 2 hours per week?
• Do you live, work or volunteer in Camden?
• Would you like to support people in your community to improve their health and access to services that will help maintain good health and wellbeing?
Voluntary Action Camden (VAC) is offering free Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) training to volunteer Health Advocates for Community Links, part of a new Care Navigation and Social Prescribing service in Camden. Community Links Health Advocates signpost residents to community based activities and help with formal referrals where community based activities are needed alongside clinical care.
Volunteers will have access to other health related training, and will be part of a large multi-disciplinary team that meets monthly to develop the service and explore health related issues. After 3 months, active volunteers will have opportunities to take up occasional paid sessional work alongside volunteering.
Placements are in GP practices and other community locations. In return for your commitment to the project, we offer support, out of pocket expenses and other professional development opportunities.

Action Tutoring seeks Volunteers

Action Tutoring, an education charity supporting disadvantaged young people with their English and maths attainment.  We do this by engaging local people as volunteer tutors, and offering them the opportunity to support our school-based tutoring programmes.  Our commitment requirement is just an hour a week, over the course of 8-10 weeks. Apply here to volunteer just one hour a week to support disadvantaged young people.

Third Age Project

To celebrate the Third Age Project’s move to new premises in Cumberland Market (beneath the Regents Park GP Practice) TAP are holding an open house week with events and a drop-in every day. Today there is cookery for older men from 12 -3pm.  On Sunday there is a Silver Sunday community barbeque from 2 – 5pm and on Monday 8th there is boccia 2 – 4pm. Call 020 7393 4922 for details. Hopscotch Asian Women’s Centre seeks Director

Hopscotch Asian Women’s Centre is a well-established voluntary organisation that provides a range of services to South Asian women mostly in and around Camden. We provide information and advice, support and advocacy, education and training and a range of services to children and families.  We also deliver the Homecare Service for LB Camden in Camden South.
Hopscotch is currently recruiting a new Director to lead the work of the organisation in this new phase of growth and development.

Volunteer with VAC and develop experience and skills in public health

VAC provide training, and work opportunities for committed volunteers
• Can you commit at least 2 hours per week?
• Do you live, work or volunteer in Camden?
• Would you like to support people in your community to improve their health and access to services that will help maintain good health and wellbeing?
Voluntary Action Camden (VAC) is offering free Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) training to volunteer Health Advocates for Community Links, part of a new Care Navigation and Social Prescribing service in Camden. Community Links Health Advocates signpost residents to community based activities and help with formal referrals where community based activities are needed alongside clinical care.
Volunteers will have access to other health related training, and will be part of a large multi-disciplinary team that meets monthly to develop the service and explore health related issues. After 3 months, active volunteers will have opportunities to take up occasional paid sessional work alongside volunteering.
Placements are in GP practices and other community locations. In return for your commitment to the project, we offer support, out of pocket expenses and other professional development opportunities.

Action Tutoring seeks Volunteers

Action Tutoring, an education charity supporting disadvantaged young people with their English and maths attainment.  We do this by engaging local people as volunteer tutors, and offering them the opportunity to support our school-based tutoring programmes.  Our commitment requirement is just an hour a week, over the course of 8-10 weeks. Apply here to volunteer just one hour a week to support disadvantaged young people.

Cocoon Family Support seeks Trustees

Are you passionate about perinatal mental health? Cocoon Family Support is currently recruiting new trustee’s to help us continue our vital work supporting families across London.
Cocoon provides support for families across London who are suffering with perinatal mental health issues and difficult emotions pre and postnatally. We do this by offering weekly peer support groups, creative therapy courses, mindfulness sessions, outings and activities. We have recently secured two NHS contracts – one with NHS England(London) and one with South East London STP to provide a lived experience voice and project.

Community Mental Health Hubs – VCS Consultation Event

As part of its St Pancras Transformation programme, currently at public consultation stage, Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust wants to improve its community services by developing mental health hubs in the community. These aim to consolidate services that are currently provided across 30 sites, and collaborate with community partners to provide service users and local communities with more holistic care and proactive approaches to staying well. We are interested in talking with voluntary sector organisations across Camden and Islington to see how we can best deliver this vision and therefore invite you to a meeting on 5th October (9.30-11.00) at St Pancras Hospital (Room 4, 1st Floor, West Wing).

In the first phase of this review, the partnership is inviting responses to a draft case for change – a document which shares why the review is needed and early thoughts on how this kind of surgery might be organised in the future. This review will run through to Spring 2019 with this initial intensive engagement phase running until 19 October 2018

Temporary community garden comes to the British Library

The British Library proposes creating a new community garden on Ossulston Street, where the Francis Crick Institute previously had their construction compound.
There are two community consultation drop-ins to outline proposals to the wider Somers Town community at the Living Centre on Ossulston Street.

The team will also be at the Regents Park Community Festival, ‘ThoughtFest’ on 5 and 6 October.

Street Vet

StreetVet provides free veterinary care and support for homeless pet owners who cannot afford veterinary treatment.  The team consists of qualified vets and registered veterinary nurses that volunteer throughout  London bringing the vet consulting room to the street. The StreetVet team volunteer in Camden outside the HSBC every Wednesday evening from 8pm till 9pm.

Camden Stories in the News

The Camden New Journal carried a warning from a number of Camden voluntary organisations that the introduction of Universal Credit would cause a crisis in the borough. Eleanor Botwright of Castlehaven Community Assocation called for the introduction to a least be delayed until after the winter.
Camden Council launched the Camden’s Youth Safety Taskforce report which proposes collective community response to break the cycle of exploitation of young people in the borough. Camden Council will be allocating £500,000 of funding to help the council, partners and the community to act upon some of the report’s key recommendations. The funding will be spent over a two-year period.

The HS2 Camden Fund

The Camden Fund aims to strengthen the sense of place and alleviate the disruption of the development of HS2 Ltd. on local people by achieving one or more of the following aims:
1. A Happier and Healthier Camden
2. A Better Connected Camden
3. A Stronger Voluntary and Community Sector
We aim to inform applicants of the result of their application within 16 weeks. Applicants can submit applications at any point between midnight on the 15th May 2018 and midnight on the 14th May 2020. Full details at Camden Giving.

Voluntary Action Camden (VAC) is offering free Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) training to volunteer Health Advocates for Community Links, part of a new Care Navigation and Social Prescribing service in Camden. Community Links Health Advocates signpost residents to community based activities and help with formal referrals where community based activities are needed alongside clinical care.
Volunteers will have access to other health related training, and will be part of a large multi-disciplinary team that meets monthly to develop the service and explore health related issues. After 3 months, active volunteers will have opportunities to take up occasional paid sessional work alongside their volunteering.
Placements are in GP practices and other community locations. In return for your commitment to the project, we offer support, out of pocket expenses and other professional development opportunities.

North London Partners in health and care (NLP) is launching a review of adult elective orthopaedic care services (planned surgery of bones and joints) across north central London.
In the first phase of this review, the partnership is inviting responses to a draft case for change – a document which shares why the review is needed and early thoughts on how this kind of surgery might be organised in the future. This review will run through to Spring 2019 with this initial intensive engagement phase running until 19 October 2018

St Pancras Hospital Redevelopment

Camden and Islington Clinical Commissioning Groups are consulting on the proposed site redevelopment of Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust‘s St Pancras Hospital site. The public consultation will seek views on proposals to move inpatient beds from St Pancras Hospital to a new site at the Whittington Hospital and create two new mental health community hubs in Islington and Camden. The consultation end 12th October.
The last open public event is on Wednesday 26th September, 6pm to 8pm, St Pancras Hospital, Conference room, 4 St Pancras Way, NW1. Just turn up.

The British College of Osteopathic Medicine on Finchley Road, NW3 has a large training clinic  providing over 14,000 osteopathic treatment sessions per year. Free treatment for pregnant women, the over 65s on pension credit, and for the under 16s in  our specialist children’s clinic. Women’s Vote Centenary Small Grants Scheme

The Government Equalities Office established the £1.5 million Women’s Vote Centenary Grant scheme earlier this year to mark the centenary of women gaining the right to vote in England. The Fund has a small grant scheme, the third and final round of which is now open for applications.
Grants of between £300 and £2,000 are available for activities that start by 15 December 2018 and are completed by 31 December 2018.

Grants for Remembrance Day Installations

Applications are now open for micro-grants of up to £500 for installations to support their Remembrance Day activities for the centenary of the First World War.
This programme will allow communities to remember and commemorate by accessing our silhouettes for benches and chairs free of charge thanks to the support of the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
These silhouettes can be placed within community halls, places of worship and places of education, bringing to mind those who went to war and did not return. You can apply for an award to purchase up to 10 silhouettes.
As part of the award, your organisation will need to hold a self-funded event to bring your local community together. Deadline 1st October 2018.

Sporting Capital

Sporting Capital invests in organisations that make a difference through sport.
The £3m Sporting Capital Fund provides loan funding of between £50,000 and £150,000.
The loan funding will be used to help organisations develop new projects, operations and revenue streams. The goal is to help develop more sustainable community sports organisations.

The HS2 Camden Fund

The Camden Fund aims to strengthen the sense of place and alleviate the disruption of the development of HS2 Ltd. on local people by achieving one or more of the following aims:

Voluntary Action Camden (VAC) are training volunteers to become Community Health Advocates in local GP practices.
• Would you like to support people in your community to improve their health and their access to services that will help them to maintain good health and wellbeing?
• Do you want to develop experience and skills in the field of public health?
• Can you commit at least 2 hours per week?
VAC is offering free Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) Level 1 training to those who want to volunteer to become Community Health Advocates.
After completing the training, VAC will support local teams of volunteers to act as links between community based services and GPs. In return for your commitment to the project for 2 hours a week we offer support, out of pocket expenses and other professional development opportunities.

Could You Help in an Emergency?

CAMERA Emergency Volunteering Programme has officially been launched in Camden and Hammersmith & Fulham by the two Volunteer Centres and are looking for expressions of interest from local people, businesses and organisations that would be able to give time, skills, space or goods in the event of an emergency.
The experience of the Grenfell tragedy and the Chalcots Estate evacuation showed that there was a surplus of people with useful skills and experience, e.g. counselling, who offered to volunteer but were not allowed to help as they were not known by the local authority dealing with the situation.
The CAMERA response and recovery volunteer team aims to give an opportunity for local people to help in situations such as these.

North London Partners in health and care (NLP) is launching a review of adult elective orthopaedic care services (planned surgery of bones and joints) across north central London.
In the first phase of this review, the partnership is inviting responses to a draft case for change – a document which shares why the review is needed and early thoughts on how this kind of surgery might be organised in the future. This review will run through to Spring 2019 with this initial intensive engagement phase running until 19 October 2018

The Early Years Opportunities programme is open to charities that help disadvantaged children and young people overcome the barriers they face to achieve the best possible start in life.
Small Grants: Charities with incomes of under £500,000 can apply for a grant of between £500 and £15,000 over 1-3 years.

Free Hate Crime Awareness Training in Camden

Thursday 18th October 10am-12pm
This event is for all staff, practitioners and residents in Camden who would like further awareness of the rise of Hate Crime in our borough and ways we can meaningfully tackle the issue. The course will provide an overview of the different forms of hate crime, how to identify them and support someone who is experiencing such abuse. POhWER has been commissioned by the London Borough of Camden to deliver NHS Complaints Advocacy to the residents of Camden.
The service is free, confidential and independent to the NHS.
The Service can help individuals to make a complaint about a National Health Service (NHS), which covers all NHS funded treatment, including NHS hospitals, GP’s, Ambulance Services, District Nurses, Mental Health Services, Dentists, Pharmacists or Opticians.

Masonic Charitable Foundation Launches Early Years Opportunities Grants Programme

The Early Years Opportunities programme is open to charities that help disadvantaged children and young people overcome the barriers they face to achieve the best possible start in life.
Small Grants: Charities with incomes of under £500,000 can apply for a grant of between £500 and £15,000 over 1-3 years.
Our small grants are unrestricted. Applications close on 26 October 2018

The HS2 Camden Fund

The Camden Fund aims to strengthen the sense of place and alleviate the disruption of the development of HS2 Ltd. on local people by achieving one or more of the following aims:
1. A Happier and Healthier Camden
2. A Better Connected Camden
3. A Stronger Voluntary and Community Sector

Free Hate Crime Awareness Training in Camden

Thursday 18th October 10am-12pm
This event is for all staff, practitioners and residents in Camden who would like further awareness of the rise of Hate Crime in our borough and ways we can meaningfully tackle the issue. The course will provide an overview of the different forms of hate crime, how to identify them and support someone who is experiencing such abuse. Could You Help in an Emergency?

CAMERA Emergency Volunteering Programme has officially been launched in Camden and Hammersmith & Fulham by the two Volunteer Centres and are looking for expressions of interest from local people, businesses and organisations that would be able to give time, skills, space or goods in the event of an emergency.
The experience of the Grenfell tragedy and the Chalcots Estate evacuation showed that there was a surplus of people with useful skills and experience, e.g. counselling, who offered to volunteer but were not allowed to help as they were not known by the local authority dealing with the situation.
The CAMERA response and recovery volunteer team aims to give an opportunity for local people to help in situations such as these.

Volunteers are needed in GP practices

Voluntary Action Camden (VAC) are training volunteers to become Community Health Advocates in local GP practices.
• Would you like to support people in your community to improve their health and their access to services that will help them to maintain good health and wellbeing?
• Do you want to develop experience and skills in the field of public health?
• Can you commit at least 2 hours per week?
VAC is offering free Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) Level 1 training to those who want to volunteer to become Community Health Advocates.
After completing the training, VAC will support local teams of volunteers to act as links between community based services and GPs. In return for your commitment to the project for 2 hours a week we offer support, out of pocket expenses and other professional development opportunities.

VAC now has 3 new rooms for hiring out for Events/Training, etc. at our new base in the Charlie Ratchford Centre in Chalk Farm.
The Dining Room can hold up to 60 people, this can be useful for any large social events, AGMs, conferences, etc.
The Buffet Room can hold up to 20 people comfortably for training/workshops
The Lounge is a open area for anything that is not confidential and can hold up to 20 people

Camden council teams up with community partners

The Camden Community Impacts scheme will use £1.6 million of council funding to bring organisations together in new ways to address youth offending, rough sleeping, emotional health and wellbeing, and supporting older or disabled people in the community.
• Youth offending: New Horizon Youth Centre and Project 10/10, along with Kent University. The Young Camden Foundation and the Roundhouse.
• Rough sleeping: Somers Town Community Association, the St Pancras and Somers Town Living Centre, C4WS Homeless Project and Central Saint Martins will carry out research to understand experiences of rough sleepers.
• Emotional health and wellbeing: Mind in Camden, Rethink Mental Illness, Holy Cross Centre Trust, C4  and Voluntary Action Camden will work to improve understanding of mental health needs and develop community-led plans.
• Supporting people in the community: The Centre for Independent Living will help local organisations to access £100,000 funding available for projects that break down barriers older and disabled people face in accessing community facilities. Full details on the Camden council website.

Employer training for Direct Payment users

Many service users choose to use their Direct Payment to employ their own staff. PSIC is pleased to announce that in conjunction with Camden Disability Action, we have been awarded funding by Skills for Care to provide training for Direct Payment users who are, or wish to become, employers.
We provided similar training last year and it was very warmly received with a good take up.

City Lit’s Open Day – Communities Programmes

Henna and Ageing Better in Camden – Art, Freedom and Creativity for over 60’s women

Ageing Better in Camden is a partnership of older people and agencies in Camden working closely together to tackle the social isolation and loneliness that many older people in the Borough experience. Working in partnership with Henna Asian Women’s Group the Art, Freedom and Creativity project will allow older women, at risk from or experiencing social isolation to become more involved in their communities, and provide stronger support to each other.
This two-year programme will provide 6 weekly workshops, the workshops will include activities such as Gardening, Singing, Creative Writing, Painting, Exercise, Cooking, I.T sessions, Crochet, Memory Lane storytelling etc

The Dining Room can hold up to 60 people, this can be useful for any large social events, AGMs, conferences, etc.

The Lounge is a open area for anything that is not confidential and can hold up to 20 people

‘Meet the Funder’ event ‘Save London Lives’

Save London Lives, part of the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund, aims to build a better and more robust community response to youth violence in London by increasing the impact and resilience of organisations working to reduce violence among young people across London. The fund will encourage and support locally based solutions that are developed and delivered by a range of organisations, working together in areas across London.
Through this fund we will provide grant funding, capacity support and networking opportunities to organisations in London who are responding to youth violence under at least one of the following three themes:
Trauma; School; Family
Grants of up to £20,000 are available over two years, and organisations operating in any London borough with an income of under £500,000 are eligible to apply.
The session will provide an opportunity for organisations to ask questions on a one to one basis before the programme closes on the 10th of September.

Mayor of London’s Greener City Fund Community Green Space Grants

Funding between £5,000 and £50,000 is available for projects that create or improve green spaces and improve Londoners’ access to nature.

The Camden Fund aims to strengthen the sense of place and alleviate the disruption of the development of HS2 Ltd. on local people by achieving one or more of the following aims:

Employer training for Direct Payment users

Many service users choose to use their Direct Payment to employ their own staff. PSIC is pleased to announce that in conjunction with Camden Disability Action, we have been awarded funding by Skills for Care to provide training for Direct Payment users who are, or wish to become, employers.
We provided similar training last year and it was very warmly received with a good take up.

Henna and Ageing Better in Camden – Art, Freedom and Creativity for over 60’s women

Ageing Better in Camden is a partnership of older people and agencies in Camden working closely together to tackle the social isolation and loneliness that many older people in the Borough experience. Working in partnership with Henna Asian Women’s Group the Art, Freedom and Creativity project will allow older women, at risk from or experiencing social isolation to become more involved in their communities, and provide stronger support to each other.
This two-year programme will provide 6 weekly workshops, the workshops will include activities such as Gardening, Singing, Creative Writing, Painting, Exercise, Cooking, I.T sessions, Crochet, Memory Lane storytelling etc

Young people’s views on healthcare provision in Camden

To find out the health and social care issues of young people aged fifteen to sixteen in Camden and also to find out how they like to be communicated with by health professionals and teachers Healthwatch Camden devised a Youth Social Media campaign week. It is a pilot campaign using videos developed by school children from William Ellis School and LaSWAP sixth form consortium.

Government publishes Civil Society Strategy

Slipped out in August the government’s Civil Society Strategy promises that it will “build stronger communities by bringing together businesses, charities and the public sector”.
Key announcements include plans to unlock £20m from dormant charitable accounts and distribute it to community trusts and commitments to support corporate social responsibility, improve the take-up of the Social Value Act, and renewed commitments to grants and the principles of the Compact.
The government has pledged “a revival of grant-making” as part of its aim to “broaden the range of funding options for community initiatives.”  The strategy says it will takes steps to tackle the unpopular market model for public service commissioning and aims to strengthen the Social Value Act and will look at expanding it to apply to grants and other areas of public decision making such as planning and community asset transfer.
NCVO said that the strategy was an “encouraging start” but said the government could do more to help community groups. NCVO have a summary here. More reporting at Civil Society.

Men’s Activities in Camden – deadline Tuesday!

Ageing Better in Camden has identified a need for an increased number of supportive men’s only activities across Camden. We are therefore commissioning 3 men’s only ‘Gold Standard’ Community Activities to enable men to attend supportive and well run activities in their local community.
Funds of £20,000 over 2 years are available to 3 organisations which are able to provide a range of activities specifically for men over 60.

Camden Climate Fund

The Camden Climate Fund provides funding of up to £5,000 towards the installation costs of renewable technologies and/or energy efficiency improvements. Such measures include solar panels, lighting and heating upgrades. Successful applicants are required to match-fund 50% of costs, plus any additional over the maximum allowance.

The Camden Fund aims to strengthen the sense of place and alleviate the disruption of the development of HS2 Ltd. on local people by achieving one or more of the following aims:

Voluntary Action Camden (VAC) are training volunteers to become Community Health Advocates in local GP practices.
• Would you like to support people in your community to improve their health and their access to services that will help them to maintain good health and wellbeing?
• Do you want to develop experience and skills in the field of public health?
• Can you commit at least 2 hours per week?
VAC is offering free Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) Level 1 training to those who want to volunteer to become Community Health Advocates.
After completing the training, VAC will support local teams of volunteers to act as links between community based services and GPs. In return for your commitment to the project for 2 hours a week we offer support, out of pocket expenses and other professional development opportunities.

The Lounge is a open area for anything that is not confidential and can hold up to 20 people

Patient Experience & User Involvement Steering Group – co-chair (paid)
Our Steering Group is made up of people affected by cancer who are passionate about engaging communities and making an impact on the future of cancer care. It ensures that the views of people affected by cancer are represented at the highest level.
We are looking for a person affected by cancer to be our new co-chair. The co-chair receives payments for involvement, in recognition of the contribution of the role.
We’re particularly keen to hear from people from black and minority ethnic communities
Using routine health data to diagnose lung cancer earlier project – patient/carer reps
Outcomes for lung cancer in north east London are very poor.  The project will be looking for ‘actionable moments’ in the year before a person is diagnosed with lung cancer. We hope this will identify opportunities to diagnose and treat people earlier.
We are looking for two people to join the project group as patient/carer representatives. You don’t need to have experience of lung cancer specifically – we’d welcome people with experience of any kind of cancer for this project. What’s important is that you are interested in the potential of using data to improve health services, and are willing to learn.

Quality of Life Pilot Steering Group – patient/carer rep
We are piloting a ground-breaking new tool for measuring quality of life for people affected by cancer. Currently, there is no measure in place to assess how well patients are supported after their cancer treatment. This tool will establish people’s quality of life and their needs, such as help at home or financial advice. We are looking for people affected by any cancer who would like to join the Steering Group overseeing and shaping this project.
