Become a Hate Crime 3rd Party Reporting Centre

Concerned about the rise of hate crime? Want to support victims of hate crime? Then become a Hate Crime 3rd Party Reporting Centre! 3rd Party Reporting Centres are organisations that assist victims in submitting a hate crime report to the police and/or make a report on the victim’s behalf. Launch of Camden Community Foodbox

Camden tenants have come together with the help of the council in a collaborative project supporting residents. The new charity will be called Camden Community FoodBox and will operate as a resident led independent registered charity to be launched on 28 November 2018.   The Camden Community FoodBox will provide an essential local community service. Philosophy of Mind at Mind in Camden

A podcast is about a ‘Philosophy of Mind’ workshop series, which ran at local mental health charity, Mind in Camden, and includes a group discussion amongst several participants about their experiences of the group. Listen at Camden Community Radio.

St Pancras hospital redevelopment report

The findings report from the recent public consultation on St Pancras  redevelopment (Transforming Mental Health Services in Camden and Islington) is available to read on the Islington CCG website.

Need a Meeting Room near Chalk Farm?

VAC now has 3 new rooms to hire out for Events/Training, etc. at our new base in the Charlie Ratchford Centre in Chalk Farm.
The Dining Room can hold up to 60 people, this can be useful for any large social events, AGMs, conferences, etc.
The Buffet Room can hold up to 20 people comfortably for training/workshops
The Lounge is a open area for anything that is not confidential and can hold up to 20 people. Smartboard, level access, reasonable prices.

Mayor’s Seed Funding

Culture Seeds is the Mayor of London’s £1million small grants programme to help London’s local communities grow grassroots arts, culture and heritage projects across the Capital.
Culture Seeds is still open for submissions, offering grants of £1,000-£5,000 to small organisations, groups and individuals.
The programme will remain open until March 2020. There are no other deadlines and you can apply at any time.

Said Foundation – Amal Grants Programme

Grants to support a variety of high-quality arts and cultural activities that aim to further the objectives of increasing understanding of Britain’s Muslim communities among people of other faiths and none and fostering a stronger sense of belonging in the UK among its Muslim communities. Details here.

The HS2 Camden Fund

The Camden Fund aims to strengthen the sense of place and alleviate the disruption of the development of HS2 Ltd. on local people by achieving one or more of the following aims:
1. A Happier and Healthier Camden
2. A Better Connected Camden
3. A Stronger Voluntary and Community Sector
We aim to inform applicants of the result of their application within 16 weeks. Applicants can submit applications at any point between midnight on the 15th May 2018 and midnight on the 14th May 2020. Full details at Camden Giving.

Safeguarding Courses from VAC

Safeguarding: Developing existing knowledge and understanding.

If you work frequently with children and their families, it is essential that your organisation has up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures. This Advanced course is designed to develop existing understanding of the safeguarding process.

Health and Safety Essentials – 21 November 2018

Wednesday, 21st November, 10:00am – 1:00pm
Do you have responsibilities for health and safety where you work? Do you want to know your rights when it comes to health and safety? And know how to enforce your rights? You get a certificate at the end of the course. Learn about:
The training is ideal for people new to health and safety or those wanting to refresh their knowledge. The course also covers all the requirements for running a community group safely. In particular, migrant workers or recent arrivals in the UK will gain important knowledge about their rights. Book here.

Employment support in the Capital: Routes into work and to progress

The event will explore how employment support for those seeking to enter employment and for those seeking to progress out of low paid work can contribute to reducing child poverty in London. In particular, it will look at the role of local authorities, the voluntary sector, and the GLA can play in joint working to improve services to many of London’s disadvantaged groups.

Camden Giving has funding available through the HS2 Camden Fund for creating a ‘Stronger Voluntary and Community Sector’. We will share some tips and ideas about applications you could consider applying to us for under this strand so that you can begin to plan your project proposal.
This free workshop is aimed at not-for-profits with an income of less than £500k, whose projects/activities benefit Camden communities.

HolbornGymnastics Club seeks Qualified Coach

The club is part of Holborn Community Association and  delivers 12 sessions a week at Bedford House centre and a further 6 sessions across local schools.
We are looking for a fun, enthusiastic Level 2 General UKCC British Gymnastics qualified coach to take on the role of coaching an after school club.  Our current coach is due to take maternity leave from January and we need a coach to deliver sessions twice a week at St Aloysius Primary School.

Child Mentor Volunteers Needed

The Kids Network is looking for fun, committed and passionate volunteers to make an impact to the lives of little Londoners. Our flexible year-long mentoring programme supports children aged 8-11 with their social and emotional development during the transitional period between primary and secondary.

Volunteer with VAC and develop experience and skills in public health

VAC provide training, and work opportunities for Camden volunteers who can commit 2 hours per week.
Voluntary Action Camden (VAC) is offering free Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) training to volunteer Health Advocates for Community Links, part of a new Care Navigation and Social Prescribing service in Camden. Community Links Health Advocates signpost residents to community based activities and help with formal referrals where community based activities are needed alongside clinical care.
Volunteers will have access to other health related training, and will be part of a large multi-disciplinary team that meets monthly to develop the service and explore health related issues. After 3 months, active volunteers will have opportunities to take up occasional paid sessional work alongside volunteering.
Placements are in GP practices and other community locations. In return for your commitment to the project, we offer support, out of pocket expenses and other professional development opportunities.

Opportunities for older people to get their voices heard

Ageing Better in Camden get sent many invitations for older people to have their say in local consultations or focus groups. Many are one-off, two hour discussions with little commitment required.
There are a lot of interesting opportunities but there is no obligation – each person can choose the ones that interest them.  We will simply add their name to a mailing list and they can choose the opportunities they’d like to get involved in. For more information and to join contact us on:
