From Food Banks to Food Coops
Thursday 24th September 2020, 10am-11am via Zoom
During the Covid-19 lockdown, mutual aid groups, food banks and community associations provided thousands of meals to Camden residents on low or no income. These efforts continue to provide immediate relief for people facing acute food poverty. But the crisis is far from over.
Castlehaven invite you to a presentation by Cooperation Town – currently working in partnership with Castlehaven – on phasing out our emergency C-19 foodbank by introducing more sustainable community-led food coops.
Cooperation Town is a newly established Camden group proposing a sustainable alternative to mass charity operation: a local network of community-led food co-ops, self-organised and owned by its members, who will have ongoing access to extremely affordable food.
They recently released the Cooperation Town Starter Pack – an accessible guide to starting new food co-ops – and will present the pack, further resources, the supporting infrastructure and the ideas behind Cooperation Town
