Lots of new funding this week. Up to £10K from the latest London Community Response wave. Camden Giving Social Action fund re-opens for grants from £500 to £1500. The Arts Council launches Thriving Communities fund for projects from £25k to £50k. UK Youth launch a new fund for small youth organisations with grants up to £50k. Civil society urges Chancellor to urgently make job scheme fit for purpose

A coalition of civil society leaders has written to Rishi Sunak to urge him to develop a Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) fit for purpose for social change organisations.

Globally civil society stepped up during the pandemic, but often unrecognised

Civil society organisations around the world responded in a “rapid and vital” way to the pandemic, but this was largely unacknowledged by governments, according to a report.

New funding from the London Community Response

The London Community Response is taking applications for grants of up to £10,000 to help groups support Londoners affected by covid-19 over the next six months. Applications will be assessed on a first-come-first-served basis, with a final deadline of 5pm on Thursday 3 December 2020.
Priority for funding will be given to the following:
~ Equity and inclusion – organisations led by and for marginalised communities
~ Strong connections – groups who have a strong reach to people at high risk
~ Smaller organisations – typically those with a turnover of up to £1m

Camden Giving’s Social Action Fund Social Action Fund

Apply for small grants between £500-£1,500 for social action apply by 23rd November. This is a partnership between Camden Council and Camden Giving as part of Community Impacts Fund programme. More info here
1. Increases social action (e.g. helping Mutual Aid Groups etc)
2. Supports community cohesion (e.g.  different communities meet)
3. Creates community resilience (e.g. employability and mental health support)
Priority to organisations supporting groups disproportionally impacted by COVID-19, particularly those with a track record of providing specialist support to Camden’s BAME communities.

Arts Council Thriving Communities Fund

The Thriving Communities Fund will support local voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCSFSE) projects that bring together place-based partnerships to improve and increase the range and reach of available social prescribing community activities – especially for those people most impacted by COVID-19 and health inequalities.
Grant range £25,000 – £50,000
Opens: 23 November. Deadline: 8 January. Decisions: 15 March 2021

The UK Youth Fund – Covid Relief

A fund created to support youth organisations who have not had access to the crisis funding they require to survive the Covid pandemic. Youth organisations with an income of under £250,000, that are based in, and deliver their work in England are eligible to apply for up to £50,000.

Supplementary Schools Network Fund

£1,000 up to £3,000 Deadline 4 December 2020
Young Camden Foundation and John Lyon’s Charity are delighted to launch for a second consecutive year the Supplementary Schools Network Fund 2020.
This fund is designed to support supplementary schools in Camden to provide high quality educational programmes that are accessible, fun and engaging whilst ensuring the safeguarding of children and young people. Projects should cover: Mathematics, Science and English. Find more information here

Return to Play Fund

The £16.5 million fund is split into three strands and brings our total support for the sport and physical activity sector to more than £220m.
The Return to Play Fund will support groups, clubs and organisations who’ve been impacted by restrictions brought in to tackle the pandemic.
£10m – Return to Play: Small Grants. £300 and £10,000 to help sport and activity groups, clubs and organisations respond to the immediate challenges of returning to play in a Covid-19-safe environment.
£5m – Return to Play:  £10,001 to £50,000. It’ll help local sports clubs and organisations to adapt and open important places and spaces that can help them welcome back their local community safely.
£1.5m – Return to Play: Active Together. This crowdfunding initiative will help sports clubs and organisations set up their own campaigns.

Somers Town Greening Fund 2020

Are you a resident in Somers Town with an idea for a green space in Somers Town? Somers Town Big Local have created the Greening Fund – it is now live and accepting applications. The fund is for groups of residents who want to create new green space or revive old green spaces in Somers Town. The fund will make grants of up to £3000. Deadline Monday 23rd  November at 5pm

Build Up Fund 2020-21│ Youth Crime Prevention & Organisational Development Grants.

Young Camden Foundation in partnership with Camden Council Community Impacts has launched the Build Up Fund. This fund aims to support local youth organisations to access comprehensive and appropriate training in three distinct areas 1) Youth crime prevention, 2) Collaborating or sharing best practice on youth crime prevention schemes and 3) Organisational sustainability.
Camden based organisations working with children and young people can apply for grants of between £500 up to £3,000 up to 30th Nov. See more here

Free Walk Leader training

Camden Council’s Active Living team are offering free training to become a qualified Rambler’s Walking for health leader, and support to set up a new walking group. Walking groups will be covered  for health insurance, and will be part of the accredited national walking for health programme.  A friendly and accessible way for local people to get gentle exercise and make new friends.

Introduction to domestic violence and abuse e-learning
This e-learning is intended for everyone that would like to gain an awareness on domestic violence and abuse. It will provide you with an introduction to what the types and signs of abuse are, how to respond and what actions to take.

Responding to domestic violence and abuse online workshop

Camden Safety Net two-hour online workshops on responding to domestic violence and abuse for staff that come into regular contact with residents.
25th November or 15th December
This online workshop will help you become more aware of the indicators of domestic abuse and violence and more confident in what to do in these instances. The workshop will explore the dynamics of a domestic abuse situation and what the barriers are for a victim/survivor seeking help.

Join a neighbourhood Mutual Aid group.
Organisations that are signed up to Time to Spare can now request volunteers through a brokerage team making it much easier to access the volunteers. The brokers can help match volunteers with voluntary and community organisations who have a need for verified/ vetted volunteers. The service will also help to verify or carry out new DBS check with volunteers.

BTEG’s Covid-19 Response Capacity Building Project

BTEG have developed a range of sustainability and capacity building support for B.A.M.E organisations nationally. The support will be targeting small B.A.M.E-led civil society groups across England working directly to support people at high risk of the virus, have faced a significant increase in demand and/or have limited capacity to focus on internal developments and planning.
You will get access to up to 4.5 hours of free expert consultancy support and/or coaching specific to your organisational needs as well as access to up to 20 organisational and leadership development workshops. National Academy for Social Prescribing Thriving Communities programme.

This programme is aimed at VCSE groups who are delivering activities to communities most affected by COVID. It is a large programme consisting of peer learning, community activity and strategic partnership development support, as well as providing funding.
Voluntary Action Camden is delighted to be supporting and delivering this programme in Camden, Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Islington.
The launch event will be a great opportunity to find out more information about the programme and how to apply.

Camden’s Health & Care Citizen’s Assembly brought together a representative sample of local residents for discussions on what our priorities for future changes to Camden’s health and care services should be. In light of their shared experiences of the pandemic.

Experiences of residents during Covid-19

Healthwatch Camden and Camden and Islington Public Health have both published reports based on the experiences of residents during Covid-19. Healthwatch Camden’s ‘Life in Lockdown’ report is evidenced from their summer 2020 Covid-19 survey which reached 1,590 Camden residents. Public Health’s report (Exec Summary and Full Report) is evidenced from a survey conducted with Islington residents and numerous focus groups and interviews done with Camden residents. These reports were done in partnership in order to provide a comprehensive picture of the impact of Covid-19 and lockdown on local people. Further details here.

Women’s Lockdown Art

Women + Health is presenting a fundraising Art exhibition, selling work created by 49 women artists during lockdown to raise money to fund its vital services.
Women’s Lockdown Art, an online exhibition and art sale, will open at 7 pm on Wednesday 11 November and run until Friday 25 December 2020. Artwork created by women artists during the pandemic will be available to buy on the Women + Health  website.

£1.5m – Return to Play: Active Together. This crowdfunding initiative will help sports clubs and organisations set up their own campaigns.

The CAF Resilience Fund exists to help charitable organisations in England that support the people hardest hit by Covid-19. This fund will support those working with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups such as those living in deprived areas, those supporting Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities and people with disabilities.Grants range from £10,000 to £100,000 to deliver rapid relief from the impact of Covid-19. and you must be able to spend the grant money before 31 March 2021.  Full details at Cafonline.

Somers Town Greening Fund 2020

Are you a resident in Somers Town with an idea for a green space in Somers Town? Somers Town Big Local have created the Greening Fund – it is now live and accepting applications. Young Camden Foundation in partnership with Camden Council Community Impacts has launched the Build Up Fund. This fund aims to support local youth organisations to access comprehensive and appropriate training in three distinct areas 1) Youth crime prevention, 2) Collaborating or sharing best practice on youth crime prevention schemes and 3) Organisational sustainability.

Free Walk Leader training

Camden Council’s Active Living team are offering free training to become a qualified Rambler’s Walking for health leader, and support to set up a new walking group. Walking groups will be covered  for health insurance, and will be part of the accredited national walking for health programme.  A friendly and accessible way for local people to get gentle exercise and make new friends.

Camden Safety Net two-hour online workshops on responding to domestic violence and abuse for staff that come into regular contact with residents.

This online workshop will help you become more aware of the indicators of domestic abuse and violence and more confident in what to do in these instances. The workshop will explore the dynamics of a domestic abuse situation and what the barriers are for a victim/survivor seeking help.

Community Champions

Elfrida Rathbone Camden has been commissioned to engage with residents of Kentish Town specifically in and around the Peckwater, Torriano, Oseney and Kenbrook estates.

Camden early help friends workshop

UCL students to run Student-Led Projects.

UCL students are looking for 5 London-based organisations to partner with.  This is an opportunity to provide your beneficiaries with access to UCL students and for you to tailor the project to your current needs.
Each Project supported has the opportunity to apply for up to £750 worth of funding, access to  safeguarding training as well as a dedicated Project Supervisor to support them with the development of their project.
Due to the pandemic, all Projects will operate remotely until further notice.

Kickstart a young person’s career

Can you offer a young person a 6 month work placement?  Kickstart is government initiative aiming to create thousands of work placements with employers, including those in the voluntary sector.   The government will pay the salaries of young people in placements for 25 hours and at minimum wage. The Voice4Change England Covid-19 Partnership Fund

This fund is for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community groups and organisations, working to deliver COVID-19 services in England.
This grants programme is designed to help tackle the disproportionate impact of COVID 19 on BAME communities.
Grants between £5000 and £10,000 will be considered.

Youth Futures Foundation

Youth Futures Foundation’s Development and Impact Grant Funding is still open.  Applications must be submitted by the 9th November for a decision by the 31st December.  Good news is that the Youth Futures Foundation’s level of financial support has changed to:
£30,000 – £150,000 pa for delivery of their development grant for 50-150 young people per year, duration 1-2 years.
£100,000 – £1.2m pa for delivery of their impact grant for 150+ young people per year, duration  1-5 years.  Further information here.

Fully-funded university places with Camden Scholarships

Birkbeck, University of London  is offering two scholarship places to Camden residents for any of their undergraduate courses starting in October 2021. The deadline to apply is 25 June 2021.
Hult International Business School is offering Camden residents a fully-funded one-year  postgraduate Master of International Business degree – including practical experience with a social enterprise or small / medium-sized enterprise. The course starts in Sept 2021 and the deadline to apply is 21 May 2021.
Hult International Business School is offering London residents a fully-funded scholarship for a full-time, 3-4 year Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) degree. The deadline to apply is 15 Jan 2021. Full details here.

Healthwatch Camden Hosts Online Q+A Meeting with local General Practice Staff

Join a neighbourhood Mutual Aid group.
Organisations that are signed up to Time to Spare can now request volunteers through a brokerage team making it much easier to access the volunteers. The brokers can help match volunteers with voluntary and community organisations who have a need for verified/ vetted volunteers. The service will also help to verify or carry out new DBS check with volunteers.

Funding News

The CAF Resilience Fund is a major new fund distributing more of the £750M originally promised by the government.  Grants are from £10k – £100k and must be spent by 31st March.  The Somers Town Greening Fund aims to support residents create green spaces and grants are up to £3K.  Voice4Change England have a new fund aimed at tackling BAME Disproportionality with grants between £5K and £10K. Voluntary Action Forum: Parcels to Participation – The Future of Food Projects in Camden

The forum took place on Wednesday 21st October. We were joined by Cllr Anna Wright the new Cabinet Member for Promoting Neighbourhoods and Communities and was followed by presentations on food projects in Camden and a discussion on issues such as preserving dignity and future sustainability.  You can view a recording of the event, presentations and more here.

Don’t forget – a Test and Trace Support Payment of £500 is potentially available if you are self-isolating because of COVID-19. CAF Resilience Fund

The CAF Resilience Fund exists to help charitable organisations in England that support the people hardest hit by Covid-19. This fund will support those working with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups such as those living in deprived areas, those supporting Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities and people with disabilities.Grants range from £10,000 to £100,000 to deliver rapid relief from the impact of Covid-19. and you must be able to spend the grant money before 31 March 2021.  Full details at Cafonline.

Somers Town Greening Fund 2020

Are you a resident in Somers Town with an idea for a green space in Somers Town? Somers Town Big Local have created the Greening Fund – it is now live and accepting applications. Grants between £5000 and £10,000 will be considered.

Youth Futures Foundation

Youth Futures Foundation’s Development and Impact Grant Funding is still open.  Applications must be submitted by the 9th November for a decision by the 31st December.  Good news is that the Youth Futures Foundation’s level of financial support has changed to:
£30,000 – £150,000 pa for delivery of their development grant for 50-150 young people per year, duration 1-2 years.
£100,000 – £1.2m pa for delivery of their impact grant for 150+ young people per year, duration  1-5 years.  Further information here.

Build Up Fund 2020-21│ Youth Crime Prevention & Organisational Development Grants.

Young Camden Foundation in partnership with Camden Council Community Impacts has launched the Build Up Fund. This fund aims to support local youth organisations to access comprehensive and appropriate training in three distinct areas 1) Youth crime prevention, 2) Collaborating or sharing best practice on youth crime prevention schemes and 3) Organisational sustainability.

VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund 2020-21: Starting Well

Grants are available for VCSE organisations in England to run projects that improve outcomes for mothers and babies in deprived areas or from BAME backgrounds from preconception to up to 2-and-a-half years of age.
The aim of the Fund is to promote equality and reduce health inequalities by building the evidence base about good practice, sharing lessons and widening the adoption of interventions with a proven track record. The current funding round focusses on giving people from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) or poorer backgrounds the best chance at a healthy start in life.

COVID Recovery Fund from Lloyds Bank foundation

Lloyds Bank foundation launched a £7.4 million fund to supporting charities to recover beyond the immediate crisis.
Organisations can apply for a two-year unrestricted grant of £50,000 and will get a Development Partner to help charities navigate a tumultuous future.

London Moves to Tier 2 from Midnight Tonight

Londoners will be banned from mixing with other households indoors. This includes in pubs and restaurants. When outdoors, you must not socialise in a group larger than 6 people. Summary graphic of the rules here.

New Nefertiti women’s community empowerment project

For BAMER women aged 18 and over. The project will be online and women will need to be able to use the internet with smartphones or other devices.
The Nefertiti programme aims to empower and motivate the women to gain confidence, reduce feelings of isolation, and set up projects to strengthen their local communities. Women will join one of three project groups:
1) Literacy, digital learning, and training opportunities
2) Parenting skills, nutrition and exercise
3) Employment and self-employment
The women in each group will co-design and deliver workshops with the support of an experienced facilitator.

New Measures to Deliver Social Value through Public Procurement

Businesses seeking to win government work must set out how they will also deliver social value priorities, following new measures launched recently.

Youth Futures Foundation

Youth Futures Foundation’s Development and Impact Grant Funding is still open.  Applications must be submitted by the 9th November for a decision by the 31st December.  Good news is that the Youth Futures Foundation’s level of financial support has changed to:
£30,000 – £150,000 pa for delivery of their development grant for 50-150 young people per year, duration 1-2 years.
£100,000 – £1.2m pa for delivery of their impact grant for 150+ young people per year, duration  1-5 years.  Further information here.

London’s Violence Reduction Unit – MyEnds Programme

MyEnds programme seeks to channel energy and effort into community-led solutions. But to make an impact, strong, local, collaborative work is needed. Violence doesn’t respect borough boundaries, so an equally ambitious response from communities that also pushes boundaries, breaks down barriers, and promotes partnerships is needed. Put simply we are stronger if we work together.
The VRU inviting applications for the MyEnds programme because they want to develop new sustainable, effective, community-led responses to violence.
This form should be used to submit your proposal.  Email your Application Form to vrucommissioning@london.gov.uk.  Deadline 5pm on 23rd October 2020.

Build Up Fund 2020-21│ Youth Crime Prevention & Organisational Development Grants.

Young Camden Foundation in partnership with Camden Council Community Impacts has launched the Build Up Fund. This fund aims to support local youth organisations to access comprehensive and appropriate training in three distinct areas 1) Youth crime prevention, 2) Collaborating or sharing best practice on youth crime prevention schemes and 3) Organisational sustainability.
Camden based organisations working with children and young people can apply for grants of between £500 up to £3,000. See more here

VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund 2020-21: Starting Well

Grants are available for VCSE organisations in England to run projects that improve outcomes for mothers and babies in deprived areas or from BAME backgrounds from preconception to up to 2-and-a-half years of age.
The aim of the Fund is to promote equality and reduce health inequalities by building the evidence base about good practice, sharing lessons and widening the adoption of interventions with a proven track record. The current funding round focusses on giving people from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) or poorer backgrounds the best chance at a healthy start in life.

COVID Recovery Fund from Lloyds Bank foundation

Lloyds Bank foundation launched a £7.4 million fund to supporting charities to recover beyond the immediate crisis.
Organisations can apply for a two-year unrestricted grant of £50,000 and will get a Development Partner to help charities navigate a tumultuous future.

There have been many books, workshops and training program on psychotherapy and counselling across cultural and ‘racial’ borders since the publication of ‘intercultural therapy’ in the early 1990’s. QR track and trace

Time to Spare’s free (for charities and community groups) track and trace system helps you collect details of visitors in a safe and secure way. Once you’ve signed up, you can print out QR codes for your location, as well as specific QR codes for different activities you run. Voluntary Action Forum

The next forum takes place on Wednesday 21st October at 11am on zoom.  The main topic will be Food Poverty.  We will be joined by Cllr Anna Wright the new Cabinet Member for Promoting Neighbourhoods and Communities and will be an opportunity to exchange ideas on supporting residents who are in food poverty as a result of the pandemic.  Save the date – full details and booking link soon.

Preparing for Test and Trace in Early Years Settings

Dr Leonora Weil, Assistant Director of Camden and Islington’s Public Health Team, will be leading training on the new NHS Test and Trace system on 12th October 2020 from 12.30 – 2.30pm.
During this session, she will look at contact tracing and how it works and will also look at actions for Early Years settings in response to NHS Test and Trace, including: preparation, if a person has symptoms, and if a person has confirmed Coronavirus.

Join a neighbourhood Mutual Aid group.
Organisations that are signed up to Time to Spare can now request volunteers through a brokerage team making it much easier to access the volunteers. The brokers can help match volunteers with voluntary and community organisations who have a need for verified/ vetted volunteers. The service will also help to verify or carry out new DBS check with volunteers.You can use the Brokerage service to request volunteers with specific skills or background for community activity.

Youth Futures Foundation

Youth Futures Foundation’s Development and Impact Grant Funding is still open.  Applications must be submitted by the 9th November for a decision by the 31st December.  Good news is that the Youth Futures Foundation’s level of financial support has changed to:
£30,000 – £150,000 pa for delivery of their development grant for 50-150 young people per year, duration 1-2 years.
£100,000 – £1.2m pa for delivery of their impact grant for 150+ young people per year, duration  1-5 years.  Further information here.

London’s Violence Reduction Unit – MyEnds Programme

MyEnds programme seeks to channel energy and effort into community-led solutions. But to make an impact, strong, local, collaborative work is needed. Violence doesn’t respect borough boundaries, so an equally ambitious response from communities that also pushes boundaries, breaks down barriers, and promotes partnerships is needed. Put simply we are stronger if we work together.
The VRU inviting applications for the MyEnds programme because they want to develop new sustainable, effective, community-led responses to violence.
This form should be used to submit your proposal.  Email your Application Form to vrucommissioning@london.gov.uk.  Deadline 5pm on 23rd October 2020.

Build Up Fund 2020-21│ Youth Crime Prevention & Organisational Development Grants.

Young Camden Foundation in partnership with Camden Council Community Impacts has launched the Build Up Fund. This fund aims to support local youth organisations to access comprehensive and appropriate training in three distinct areas 1) Youth crime prevention, 2) Collaborating or sharing best practice on youth crime prevention schemes and 3) Organisational sustainability.
Camden based organisations working with children and young people can apply for grants of between £500 up to £3,000. See more here

VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund 2020-21: Starting Well

Grants are available for VCSE organisations in England to run projects that improve outcomes for mothers and babies in deprived areas or from BAME backgrounds from preconception to up to 2-and-a-half years of age.
The aim of the Fund is to promote equality and reduce health inequalities by building the evidence base about good practice, sharing lessons and widening the adoption of interventions with a proven track record. The current funding round focusses on giving people from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) or poorer backgrounds the best chance at a healthy start in life.

COVID Recovery Fund from Lloyds Bank foundation

Lloyds Bank foundation launched a £7.4 million fund to supporting charities to recover beyond the immediate crisis.
Organisations can apply for a two-year unrestricted grant of £50,000 and will get a Development Partner to help charities navigate a tumultuous future.

Interculturality within the Supervisory Relationship

Sun 15th Nov. Nafsiyat has developed a new one-day workshop for supervisors and supervisees, to explore interculturality within the supervisory relationship.
There have been many books, workshops and training program on psychotherapy and counselling across cultural and ‘racial’ borders since the publication of ‘intercultural therapy’ in the early 1990’s. Interculturality within the Supervisory Relationship

Sun 15th Nov. Nafsiyat has developed a new one-day workshop for supervisors and supervisees, to explore interculturality within the supervisory relationship.
There have been many books, workshops and training program on psychotherapy and counselling across cultural and ‘racial’ borders since the publication of ‘intercultural therapy’ in the early 1990’s. Temporary changes to children and young people’s NHS services across north central London

“The changes will include the temporary closure of the children and young people’s emergency departments at the Royal Free Hospital and University College Hospital. The Whittington Hospital and North Middlesex Hospital children’s emergency departments will expand to meet demand. Barnet Hospital children’s emergency department has already reopened following a temporary closure.” Full details here.  Healthwatch Camden have issued a press release about the closure stating that “Research conducted by Healthwatch Camden on social media suggests awareness levels of the changes are very low, with only 1 in 10 people reporting that they were aware of the changes

Supported Employment Techniques

The course is spread over the following days to make the course more accessible. The course will be delivered over 6 half days (0930-1300 all sessions, on ZOOM) on:     1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15, 16th October.
While it is targeted around people with learning disabilities, it is a great course for any organisation working with local residents facing barriers to employment.

Food bank collection in Queen’s Crescent market

This Saturday 26 September there will be a  food bank collection stall from 11am-1pm in Queen’s Crescent market. Proceeds will go to  Chalk Farm and Euston food banks.  Items needed are: tins of meat, fish, fruit or tomatoes; long life milk (UHT); instant coffee; dried fruit and nuts ; long life juice; laundry detergent; pet food; nappies; sanitary protection.  Not pasta or beans.

Camden Safety Net two-hour online workshops on responding to domestic violence and abuse for staff  that come into regular contact with residents

Back in June the Prime Minister asked MP Danny Kruger to come up with proposals for how community action seen during lockdown could be maintained and boosted. Interesting features of the report include a strong theme running throughout of ‘community power’ and also the need to build on the report through engagment – two very welcome themes. The ‘Levelling Up’ report also includes:
~ A Community Recovery Fund – building on the Covid response fun.
~ A Levelling Up Communities Fund to support long-term transformational projects in communities, with community ownership at its core.

VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund 2020-21: Starting Well

Grants are available for VCSE organisations in England to run projects that improve outcomes for mothers and babies in deprived areas or from BAME backgrounds from preconception to up to 2-and-a-half years of age.
The aim of the Fund is to promote equality and reduce health inequalities by building the evidence base about good practice, sharing lessons and widening the adoption of interventions with a proven track record. The current funding round focusses on giving people from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) or poorer backgrounds the best chance at a healthy start in life.

The Phoenix Fund

Racial justice is at the heart of COVID-19 pandemic response. The Phoenix Fund will support a network of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic charities and groups in England that are working in the heart of their communities, providing essential and emergency services, support, and education tailored to the BAME community.  There will be 4 rounds.  The Initiative aims to:
~ Offer core funding to BAME grassroots groups across England working with BAME communities

COVID Recovery Fund from Lloyds Bank foundation

Lloyds Bank foundation launched a £7.4 million fund to supporting charities to recover beyond the immediate crisis.
Organisations can apply for a two-year unrestricted grant of £50,000 and will get a Development Partner to help charities navigate a tumultuous future.

Locality Workshop Follow-up

Wednesday 23th September 10.00 – 12.00.
Locality are back with us to follow up on their July workshop about re-opening community buildings.  This willl be a chance to get updates on the current situation – up-to-date information on HSE and Public Health interpretations of current rules and risk assessments. NHS leaders asked to address concerns about closure of children’s emergency services

Healthwatch Camden is calling on senior leaders in the NHS to move faster to address the concerns of Camden residents, following an announcement about substantial changes to emergency services for children and young people.
Preparations are being made for a possible second wave of Covid-19 patients this autumn. Part of these preparations will involve the temporary closure of emergency services for children at the Royal Free Hospital site in Hampstead, and the continued temporary closure of emergency services for children and young people at UCH.  Read the full statement here and Ham & High report.

A hands-on approach to choosing and setting up a CRM

Tuesday, 22 September, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
This two-hour online workshop will introduce you to the concept of using a CRM system and database to record and manage your work. We will show you how to assess your requirements for a new system, and what you need to think about before you embark on such a project. Delegates will come away with working templates of a requirements specification and a scoring mechanism. These can be used to appraise the various CRM systems in the market or evaluate your existing in-house systems and databases.

Two Magpies Fund

VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund 2020-21: Starting Well

Grants are available for VCSE organisations in England to run projects that improve outcomes for mothers and babies in deprived areas or from BAME backgrounds from preconception to up to 2-and-a-half years of age.
The aim of the Fund is to promote equality and reduce health inequalities by building the evidence base about good practice, sharing lessons and widening the adoption of interventions with a proven track record. The current funding round focusses on giving people from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) or poorer backgrounds the best chance at a healthy start in life.

LGBT+ Futures Fund

Grants are available for non-profit LGBT+ organisations across the UK to address the additional needs of LGBT+ people and communities most adversely impacted by the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.
Two levels of funding are available: Small grants of up to £5,000 and Main grants of between £5,001 and £15,000.

The Phoenix Fund

Racial justice is at the heart of COVID-19 pandemic response. The Phoenix Fund will support a network of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic charities and groups in England that are working in the heart of their communities, providing essential and emergency services, support, and education tailored to the BAME community.  There will be 4 rounds.  The Initiative aims to:
~ Offer core funding to BAME grassroots groups across England working with BAME communities
~ Raise awareness of the unique challenges facing BAME communities across England

COVID Recovery Fund from Lloyds Bank foundation

Lloyds Bank foundation launched a £7.4 million fund to supporting charities to recover beyond the immediate crisis.
Organisations can apply for a two-year unrestricted grant of £50,000 and will get a Development Partner to help charities navigate a tumultuous future.

From Food Banks to Food Coops

During the Covid-19 lockdown, mutual aid groups, food banks and community associations provided thousands of meals to Camden residents on low income.
Castlehaven invite you to a presentation by Cooperation Town –  currently working in partnership with Castlehaven –  on phasing out our emergency C-19 foodbank by introducing more sustainable community-led food coops.
They recently released the Cooperation Town Starter Pack – an accessible guide to starting new food co-ops – and will present the pack, further resources, the supporting infrastructure and the ideas behind Cooperation Town

Interculturality within the Supervisory Relationship

Sun 15th Nov. Nafsiyat has developed a new one-day workshop for supervisors and supervisees, to explore interculturality within the supervisory relationship.
There have been many books, workshops and training program on psychotherapy and counselling across cultural and ‘racial’ borders since the publication of ‘intercultural therapy’ in the early 1990’s. However, its integration and application to the supervisory relationship is still at an early stage. Find out more and book here.

The Hate Crime and Prevent Awareness Training will provide an overview of the main issues and in a transparent, relatable, contextual manner we will:
~ Highlight the conspiracies and narratives that have emerged recently.
~ Consider the e tools and devices that extremists utilise to communicate
~ Discuss hate crime and hate incidents including definitions, examples, reporting and anti- hate promotion within community settings.
~ Explore the vulnerabilities in individuals and communities that give rise to hate, extremism and terrorism as well as protective factors
~ Explain the role of Prevent in safeguarding vulnerable people from being radicalised and being drawn into terrorism
