The COVID-19 community vaccination bus will be at Finchley Road and Regent’s Place.

Dementia Enquirers Grants

The aim of the project is to develop a new approach to research, or ‘enquiry’, that is led and controlled by people with dementia themselves. You can apply for between £5,000-£8,000.
You can use the grant for quite simple research – for example, you could run a survey, do some interviews or group discussions. The grant can also pay for people’s time – including group members and any supporters.

Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales – Grant Programme Open

The Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales funds small and medium sized local charities, funding  work helping people overcome complex social issues across England and Wales. Aimed at registered charities with an annual income of £25,000 to £1 million with a track record of helping people on a journey of positive change through in-depth, holistic and person-centred support. The focus is on work supporting adults and young people aged 17+. Unrestricted grants of up to £50,000 over 2 years, together with development support for your charity. Lloyds Bank Foundation Racial Equity funding

Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales is to launch its Racial Equity funding for small and local charities that are led by and that support Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities. Uprising Stand Out

Uprising are running 4-week online employment support programme Stand Out. The programme will run from July 26th. The programme combines an intensive daily month-long online curriculum with up to a year of mentoring for each participant, designed to help young people in a competitive job market.

The Camden team support people with signs & symptoms lasting for longer than 12 weeks (NICE) to be diagnosed as Long-Covid. They may occur in conjunction with other conditions.  Referrals need to come from GP’s or the Post-Covid clinic at UCLH. They should be sent to, camdenreferrals.cnwl@nhs.net
The Long-Covid team consists of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy with a Rehab Assistant to support and  access to psychology if required.

Organisations that are signed up to Time to Spare can now request volunteers through a brokerage team making it much easier to access the volunteers. The brokers can help match volunteers with voluntary and community organisations who have a need for verified/ vetted volunteers. The service will also help to verify or carry out new DBS check with volunteers.

Camden HAF delivery partner seek kitchen space for hire

Feast With Us are a London based food poverty charity, which brings together surplus food and a host of committed volunteers to provide healthy and nutritious meals for the people and communities who need it the most. This Easter we partnered with Young Camden Foundation and London Borough of Camden as part of Camden Holiday, Activities and Food programme to help deliver meals to children and young people during the holidays. We are now seeking a kitchen space for the summer holiday. Ideally this would be a catering kitchen that has hot storage/hot hold equipment, large storage space for food (such as walk-in fridge, separate larder space, chest freezer), and is fully equipped with cooking pots suitable for large-scale catering.

Camden Voluntary Action Forum

The forum is open to all Camden voluntary and community  groups and organisations, community activists, social entrepreneurs, volunteers and anyone interested in local voluntary action. The Forum currently meets monthly online on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 11am.
Next Forum is on Wednesday 16th June at 11am when we will be launching a new grants fund for grass roots organisations funded by Google. Details here.

Elfrida Rathbone Camden Leighton College

The Elfrida Rathbone Camden Leighton College is a specialist education provision for young people with a mild to moderate learning disability aged 16-24.  Leighton College is based in Kentish Town, Camden and accepts students from any London Borough.

Uprising Stand Out

Uprising are running 4-week online employment support programme Stand Out. The programme will run from July 26th. The programme combines an intensive daily month-long online curriculum with up to a year of mentoring for each participant, designed to help young people in a competitive job market.

The Families, Food & Feelings group is FREE for parents/carers of children aged 5-17 who live or are registered with a GP in Islington or Camden. The group aims to support parents/carers in encouraging their children to live happy, healthy lives. The facilitators provide strategies and insight to help parents/carers feel confident. Join a neighbourhood Mutual Aid group.
Organisations that are signed up to Time to Spare can now request volunteers through a brokerage team making it much easier to access the volunteers. The brokers can help match volunteers with voluntary and community organisations who have a need for verified/ vetted volunteers. The service will also help to verify or carry out new DBS check with volunteers.

The COVID-19 community vaccination bus will be on Brunswick Square, opposite UCL’s School of Pharmacy (WC1N 1AZ) on:

You can also turn up at the bus during operating times but please try to book in advance to guarantee your appointment.

The Zen Project is a social enterprise all about making all things “Zen” accessible to all. From simple breathing techniques to relaxing sound healing, we have something for everyone. Our converted American School bus offers a tranquil space where you can escape the hustle and bustle and make some time for yourself, to relax and restore. EU Settlement Scheme Deadline Soon

If you are an EU, EEA, or Swiss citizen you and your family need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue to live, work and study in the UK.
You need to apply even if you have lived in the UK for many years or have a permanent residence document. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, 30 June 2021.
You do not need to apply if you have indefinite leave to remain or enter, or are an Irish citizen.

Young Camden Foundation –Summer Opportunities Fund

YCF is pleased to announce that the Summer Opportunities Fund is now open for applications for its fourth consecutive year.
The Summer Opportunities Fund is designed to enable organisations to deliver fun, new and accessible activities for children and young people during the summer break.
Organisations can apply for up to £3,000. Local organisations that have not previously accessed YCF’s grants are encouraged to apply. Applications for £5,000 will be considered only from organisations who are not in receipt of any other grant from YCF such as the Holiday Activities Fund. Deadline: 15 June 2021. Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales – Grant Programme Open

The Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales funds small and medium sized local charities, funding  work helping people overcome complex social issues across England and Wales. Aimed at registered charities with an annual income of £25,000 to £1 million with a track record of helping people on a journey of positive change through in-depth, holistic and person-centred support. The focus is on work supporting adults and young people aged 17+. Unrestricted grants of up to £50,000 over 2 years, together with development support for your charity. Hampstead, Wells and Campden Trust

Current priorities are debt, homelessness and mental health although other categories will also be considered. Grants are available for £2,000 and £10,000. If you are seeking a larger amount than this please contact the office first.

Lloyds Bank Foundation Racial Equity funding

Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales is to launch its Racial Equity funding for small and local charities that are led by and that support Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities. Charities can apply for two-year unrestricted grants of £50,000 alongside development support.  Full details here.

Windrush Community Fund Phase 2

Grants of between £2,500 and £25,000 are available to:
~ Increase awareness and understanding of the Windrush Scheme and Windrush Compensation Scheme or both.
~ Reach more communities and those individuals who may have been affected because they could not prove their lawful status in the UK.
~ Ensure that individuals and communities know how to apply.

Organisations that are signed up to Time to Spare can now request volunteers through a brokerage team making it much easier to access the volunteers. The brokers can help match volunteers with voluntary and community organisations who have a need for verified/ vetted volunteers. The service will also help to verify or carry out new DBS check with volunteers.

Holiday Activity and Food programme

LB Camden has received funding from the DfE to deliver a Holiday Activity and Food programme (HAF). In partnership with the council, Young Camden Foundation is planning to expand its Holiday Hub programme to reach more children and young people. During the Easter holidays the programme reached over 1,300 children and young people.
We are looking for more community organisations including, community centres, schools, libraries, youth service providers and cultural institutions interested in setting up a Holiday Hub in Summer, and/or Christmas holidays.

Forum+ are delivering LGBT+ hate crime awareness training on Tuesday 22nd June 2pm-3.30pm. The training will provide an overview of all forms of hate crime: how to identify hate crime, how to report hate crime and how to support victims. Developing Neighbourhoods

The new Integrated Care Systems will focus on 3 layers – System (the 5 borough NCL), place (borough level) and neighbourhoods.  The neighbourhood level part of the system is the least developed but activity is under way, centred on PCNs (Primary Care Networks ie groups of GP surgeries).  There is much to be done as there are competing ideas of neighbourhood and many institutions to bring into the system – from council services to Community Centres and the VCS.  This Health Creation Alliance report sets out some of the challenges and possible ways forward.  NB Marked up version to aid quick review.

This fund has been created by Camden Council to commission new work that takes place outdoors as part of Camden Together, a season celebrating Camden’s reopening through arts and culture from early July to October 2021.
It’s open to: Camden-based freelance artists, creatives and producers.

The maximum grant award is £5,000, but we welcome applications for a smaller amount, with a minimum lower award of £250.

Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales is to launch its Racial Equity funding for small and local charities that are led by and that support Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities. ~ Seed Funding grants of £500 to £1,000 are available to small women’s groups to establish and run micro women’s empowerment projects.

Windrush Community Fund Phase 2

Grants of between £2,500 and £25,000 are available to:
~ Increase awareness and understanding of the Windrush Scheme and Windrush Compensation Scheme or both.

~ Ensure that individuals and communities know how to apply.

Organisations that are signed up to Time to Spare can now request volunteers through a brokerage team making it much easier to access the volunteers. The brokers can help match volunteers with voluntary and community organisations who have a need for verified/ vetted volunteers. The service will also help to verify or carry out new DBS check with volunteers.

Leighton College News

Leighton College, the specialist college with just 20 students aged 16-24 with mild to moderate learning disabilities, are holding coffee mornings for prospective students and their parents.  These will be at 11am and 1:30pm on Friday 21 May and Friday 28 May.

HCA Arts Programmes

Holborn Community Association are now accepting applications from young people aged 14-24 to participate in their flagship Summer Film Project, this year in partnership with the incredible London Transport Museum.

Queen’s Speech Announces Charities Bill and Dormant Assets Bill but Silent on Social Care

In her speech this week, the Queen announced two significant new pieces of legislation for the charity sector, as she outlined the government’s policy priorities for the coming year. In a speech in the House of Lords, the Queen confirmed plans to roll out the Dormant Assets Bill and Charities Bill. She said: “Legislation will support the voluntary sector by reducing unnecessary bureaucracy and releasing additional funds for good causes.” Read more here.

‘Camden GLA Member: Lab hold. The successful Labour GLA candidate, Anne Clarke, did not publish her own pledges but put community organising and empowering communities as her leading priority.
Mayor of London: Lab hold. Re-elected Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan has committed to establish a new measure of wellbeing in London as the core indicator of the city’s success, which should boost civil society’s profile in policymaking. Among other commitments to work with VCSEs on young people, climate change, homelessness and disability, he has asked for responsibility for administering the National Citizen’s Service in London to boost its success and to develop a new Community Micro-grants programme.’  Full results here.

Artist commissions for Camden Together

This fund has been created by Camden Council to commission new work that takes place outdoors as part of Camden Together, a season celebrating Camden’s reopening through arts and culture from early July to October 2021.
It’s open to: Camden-based freelance artists, creatives and producers.
Camden-based cultural and community organisations to work with freelance artists, creatives and producers.
The maximum grant award is £5,000, but we welcome applications for a smaller amount, with a minimum lower award of £250.

Lloyds Bank Foundation Racial Equity funding

Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales is to launch its Racial Equity funding for small and local charities that are led by and that support Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities. Empowering Women Fund (previously tampon tax fund)

A national funding programme for small women’s groups and organisations to support the development of innovative ways of empowering women in their local area, and to build organisations’ capacity.
~ Seed Funding grants of £500 to £1,000 are available to small women’s groups to establish and run micro women’s empowerment projects.
~ Women’s Sector grants of £1,000 to £25,000 are available for women’s groups and organisations to develop capacity to respond to changing needs in their communities.  Full details here.  Closes 28 May 2021.

Windrush Community Fund Phase 2

Grants of between £2,500 and £25,000 are available to:
~ Increase awareness and understanding of the Windrush Scheme and Windrush Compensation Scheme or both.
~ Reach more communities and those individuals who may have been affected because they could not prove their lawful status in the UK.
~ Ensure that individuals and communities know how to apply.

Central YMCA Programmes for Children and Young People

Toolkit launches on the 17th of May, + information sessions and applications will open for small grants to informal groups or organisations with a turnover of less than £100k to host activity during the festival.

The response to Census 2021 has exceeded all expectations, with 97 per cent of householdsmaking sure they count when it comes to planning for local services like school places, GP surgeries and hospital beds.

Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales is to launch its Racial Equity funding for small and local charities that are led by and that support Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities. Empowering Women Fund (previously tampon tax fund)

A national funding programme for small women’s groups and organisations to support the development of innovative ways of empowering women in their local area, and to build organisations’ capacity.
~ Seed Funding grants of £500 to £1,000 are available to small women’s groups to establish and run micro women’s empowerment projects.
~ Women’s Sector grants of £1,000 to £25,000 are available for women’s groups and organisations to develop capacity to respond to changing needs in their communities.  Full details here.  Closes 28 May 2021.

Windrush Community Fund Phase 2

Grants of between £2,500 and £25,000 are available to:
~ Increase awareness and understanding of the Windrush Scheme and Windrush Compensation Scheme or both.
~ Reach more communities and those individuals who may have been affected because they could not prove their lawful status in the UK.
~ Ensure that individuals and communities know how to apply.

Sheba – Laamiga Mentoring Programme,

Organisations that are signed up to Time to Spare can now request volunteers through a brokerage team making it much easier to access the volunteers. The brokers can help match volunteers with voluntary and community organisations who have a need for verified/ vetted volunteers. The service will also help to verify or carry out new DBS check with volunteers.

Healthwatch Camden Vaccination Report

Healthwatch Camden worked with local community organisations to survey 223 people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds on their views on the Covid-19 vaccine. View the report here. Key findings:
1. The more knowledge someone felt they had about the vaccine, the greater the likelihood of them wanting to be vaccinated.
2. The most popular sources of information about the Covid-19 vaccine were TV and Social Media.
3. There were subtle differences in the most common concerns that different age groups have about Covid-19 vaccination.
4. Almost 1/3 of those that were reluctant to get the vaccine indicated that they would reconsider their decision if they had more information.
5. General Practices were the most popular location to get the vaccine
With this insight, Healthwatch Camden held an online ‘Covid-19 Vaccine Q&A Session’ where local GPs and Public Health professionals addressed the key questions identified in the survey. View it here.

London’s Poverty Profile 2021 – COVID-19 and poverty in London

Trust for London has launched London’s Poverty Profile 2021 which explores the impact of COVID-19 on poverty and inequality in the Capital.
It shows that London has been hit particularly hard, both in terms of citizens’ health and its economy, compared to other parts of England. It also reveals that those living on the lowest incomes in the Capital have been disproportionally affected.

‘We are increasingly concerned by views of a vocal minority of MPs,’ ACEVO tells ministers

“ACEVO is growing increasingly concerned by the views of a vocal minority of MPs who are repeatedly calling into question the legitimacy of public facing work that charities are undertaking in pursuit of their charitable objectives, especially when that work is related to equality.”
“This includes writing to the Charity Commission to complain about work undertaken to raise awareness about inequality or to educate others about it.”
Earlier the umbrella body co-ordinated a statement supporting the Runnymede Trust, which was the latest charity to be criticised in parliament.
The chief executive of the Charity Commission has publicly affirmed the right for charities to campaign, even on unpopular or contested causes and Acevo is calling for ministers to do the same. Full story in Civil Society.

The Role and Purpose of Local Resilience Forums (LRFs)

This past year has seen an extraordinary amount of activity by public sector agencies responsible for crisis response, supported by a huge commitment and endeavour by the voluntary sector. Much of the public sector response has been organised through Local Resilience Forums (LRF).
VCSEP are running two sessions shining a light on the role of LRFs.

This e-learning can be accessed by VCS organisations that solely support Camden residents. It is for those that would like to gain an awareness on domestic violence and abuse. It will provide you with an introduction to what the types and signs of abuse are, how to respond and what actions to take.

This two-hour online workshop can be accessed by VCS organisations that solely support Camden residents. It will help you become more aware of the indicators of domestic violence and abuse and what to do in these instances. The workshop will explore the dynamics of a domestic abuse situation and what the barriers are for the victim/survivor seeking help. You’ll also be provided with information where help is available for the victim/survivor.

Get Fit, Get Active, Get Gardening

Do you love the great outdoors, gardening and green spaces? Castlehaven Community Association need volunteers every Wednesday from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm to help maintain Castlehaven’s community parks in the heart of Camden Town.

Join a neighbourhood Mutual Aid group.
Organisations that are signed up to Time to Spare can now request volunteers through a brokerage team making it much easier to access the volunteers. The brokers can help match volunteers with voluntary and community organisations who have a need for verified/ vetted volunteers. The service will also help to verify or carry out new DBS check with volunteers.

AGM Report

Thanks to everyone who came to the VAC AGM on Tuesday 20th – over 50 of you attended.  Chair and Treasurer set out VAC’s activities and future plans and showed VAC’s finances stabilizing after several difficult years.  The meeting elected 3 new trustees: Tricia Richards, Castlehaven Community Association, Harry Graham, Send Coffee and Arvinda Gohil, Central YMCA.  Congratulations and welcome aboard!  7 current trustees continue.  A new Chair and Vice-Chair will be recruited later in the year.
The formal business was followed by a talk from Leila Baker, Researcher and Co author of The Value of Small in a Big Crisis. And Caroline Howe, Policy and National Programmes Manager at Lloyds Bank Foundation for England & Wales.  View Leila’s presentation here and Caroline’s presentation here.

Lloyds Bank Foundation Racial Equity funding

Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales is to launch its Racial Equity funding for small and local charities that are led by and that support Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities. This funding strand will open on 20th April, when charities can apply for two-year unrestricted grants of £50,000 alongside development support.  Full details here.

Young Camden Foundation Holiday Activity and Food

YCF will be hosting an online event about the Holiday Activity and Food Programme on 28 April 2021 from 11am to 12:30pm. This will be a feedback session for all the Easter delivery partners to discuss their experiences and to gather responses that will benefit planning and organising the Camden HAF Summer programme. Empowering Women Fund (previously tampon tax fund)

A national funding programme for small women’s groups and organisations to support the development of innovative ways of empowering women in their local area, and to build organisations’ capacity.
~ Seed Funding grants of £500 to £1,000 are available to small women’s groups to establish and run micro women’s empowerment projects.
~ Women’s Sector grants of £1,000 to £25,000 are available for women’s groups and organisations to develop capacity to respond to changing needs in their communities.  Full details here.  Closes 28 May 2021.

Windrush Community Fund Phase 2

Grants of between £2,500 and £25,000 are available to:
~ Increase awareness and understanding of the Windrush Scheme and Windrush Compensation Scheme or both.
~ Reach more communities and those individuals who may have been affected because they could not prove their lawful status in the UK.
~ Ensure that individuals and communities know how to apply.
~ Build capacity at a community and grassroots level to support those affected to access the schemes.  Full details here.  Closes 30 June.

Community Leisure Recovery Fund- closing soon

The Community Leisure Recovery Fund (CLRF) aims to support community-run leisure centres in England with £5 million of National Lottery investment to assist the reopening and recovery of their services.
It’s an open fund to cover the period from 1 April to 30 September 2021.

A new fundraising support initiative for BAME organisations in Camden with partners Ubele and All Ways Network (funded by Camden Council).  The project aims to support small BAME organisations in Camden with advice, support and networking. Developing KOVE’s Steering Group

KOVE advocates on behalf of older people in Kilburn and the surrounding area, taking a community partnership approach. Key to this is the participation of older people. Birkbeck, University of London  is offering two scholarship places to Camden residents for any of their undergraduate courses starting in October 2021.

Lateral Flow Testing (quick test) for VCS frontline staff and volunteers

‘Lateral flow’ COVID-19 tests are available for all in frontline roles who have regular face-to-face contact with communities, and who do not have any coronavirus symptoms.
Appointments are available at two test sites (Crowndale Library and Swiss Cottage Library) every weekday from 9am to 5pm. Book here.  If your organisation is not on the system, add the name in the notes’ box.

Young Camden Foundation Holiday Activity and Food

YCF will be hosting an online event about the Holiday Activity and Food Programme on 28 April 2021 from 11am to 12:30pm. This will be a feedback session for all the Easter delivery partners to discuss their experiences and to gather responses that will benefit planning and organising the Camden HAF Summer programme. The event is for all Easter HAF delivery partners, as well as potential summer and winter 2021 HAF partners. This includes Camden schools, cultural institutions, local businesses and other organisations that would like to sponsor the programme, particularly by supporting organisations and individuals that would like to provide an activity or food. Fully-funded university places with Camden Scholarships

Birkbeck, University of London  is offering two scholarship places to Camden residents for any of their undergraduate courses starting in October 2021. The deadline to apply is 25 June 2021.
Hult International Business School is offering Camden residents a fully-funded one-year postgraduate Master of International Business degree. The course starts in Sept 2021 and the deadline to apply is 21 May 2021.

Lloyds Bank Foundation opens its Racial Equity funding

Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales is to launch its Racial Equity funding for small and local charities that are led by and that support Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities. This funding strand will open on 20th April, when charities can apply for two-year unrestricted grants of £50,000 alongside development support.  Full details next week.

Community Leisure Recovery Fund

The Community Leisure Recovery Fund (CLRF) aims to support community-run leisure centres in England with £5 million of National Lottery investment to assist the reopening and recovery of their services.
It’s an open fund to cover the period from 1 April to 30 September 2021.

The Inclusive Community Fund – Closes 22nd April

In 2019, Camden Giving created the Inclusive Community Fund in partnership with Camden Disability Action, funded by the London Borough of Camden’s Community Impacts programme. The programme put disabled people at the heart of the funding decisions, empowering them to make informed choices on which projects to fund based on their own experiences. A new round is open.

BAME Organisations Fundraising Support

A new fundraising support initiative for BAME organisations in Camden with partners Ubele and All Ways Network (funded by Camden Council).  The project aims to support small BAME organisations in Camden with advice, support and networking. Camden Voluntary Action Forum

The forum is open to all Camden voluntary and community  groups and organisations, community activists, social entrepreneurs, volunteers and anyone interested in local voluntary action. The Forum currently meets monthly online on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 11am.
The Forum is taking a break in April – please consider coming to our AGM instead.  Next Forum is on Wednesday 19th May at 11am.
